Beach Robe for Iz

My friends little girl just turned 3 and even though she made so much fun of Asher’s shorty robe, I decided she was probably just jealous and made one for her daughter. I did add a couple of inches to the bottom.

I think it was the perfect gift considering she forgot to bring towels to her pool party.
Happy birthday Iz!

Beach Robe

I’ve been wanting to make a robe for Asher since for over a year. In fact I bought the towel for it way back (from Target) but I couldn’t settle on a pattern. I was so excited to see Dana of MADE post her pattern. I thought it was adorable and started on it the next day. It took longer than it should because I stupidly bought Single fold bias tape so I had to return it and get double fold a few days later.

I’m so happy with how it turned out. The only change I made to the pattern was that I did mitered corners on the robe ties. I think it made it just a little bit more boyish. 028

I lined the the hood with a monster fabric. The same one I used here.

My friends all cracked up at Asher in a shorty robe but they also though it was really cute.

Thanks Dana for the cool pattern. Asher already picked out the towel for his next robe. It’s a really bright orange… coming soon.

Mucho Minestrone!

Mmmmm….this minestrone recipe is so dang good! And the huge double batch I made looked so good I had to blog about it. The recipe is a Weight Watchers adaptation that my mom makes, and man oh man, it’s to die for!

You’ll see that the original recipe calls for kale…but we prefer spinach. I also use chicken broth instead of veggie broth, because it’s what I have on hand. Any way you make it, you’ll love it.

I made enough to freeze bags of it for later…and I can’t wait to rediscover them in the freezer a couple months from now. What a yummy surprise that will be :)
